Martino lays out Barca plans

Gerardo Martino has reportedly agreed to keep on Rubi as an assistant at Barcelona, and is targeting just the one purchase this summer.

The Argentine Coach, who will put pen to paper on a two-year contract at the Camp Nou outfit today before being presented to the media, arrived in Barcelona yesterday and reportedly had dinner with President Sandro Rosell, sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta and Vice-President Josep Maria Bartomeu.

The quartet, Mundo Deportivo believe, met to discuss the immediate sporting plans to be put in place, including the set-up of Martino’s backroom staff.

The 50-year-old has brought with him assistant Coach Jorge Pautasso and fitness trainer Elvio Paolorosso, putting in doubt the future of Tito Vilanova’s current assistants Jordi Roura and just-appointed Rubi.

Martino is believed last night to have agreed to keep on one of Roura and Rubi, with the new arrival and former Girona Coach seen as favourite to stay on in his current position.

Meanwhile, transfer targets were once more discussed and, on from reports yesterday suggesting that the new Coach is already identifying possible recruitments in defence, it is understood that he agreed with Rosell, Zubizarreta and Bartomeu that just one more arrival for the summer, in that position, is all that is required to head into the new season with.
