Vilanova to lead Barca training

Barcelona training has been confirmed this evening as under the watch of recently-returned Coach Tito Vilanova.

The 44-year-old was speculated earlier in the week as set to take his first steps back into the working regime at the Camp Nou today after returning on Tuesday after two months away in New York.

Assistant Coach Jordi Roura has confirmed that Vilanova, who was in America undergoing post-operative treatment on a second round of cancer, will lead this evening’s session.

Whilst Vilanova will not travel with the squad to Balaidos, he is likely to make the trip to Paris next week for the first leg Champions League quarter-final with Paris Saint-Germain.

“Today he will conduct training but he will not travel to Vigo,” Roura told reporters at today’s Press conference.

“His condition will determine his progressive incorporation, but if everything goes as planned then we believe that he will be with the team in Paris.

“In principle his incorporation will be progressive, these seven to 15 days after treatment are hard, it is when the side effects appear.

“We’re glad he is here, it is important that he is here from both the professional and human standpoints.

“Tito is our boss, our head Coach, is a very dear person in the dressing room and his return is a very important factor for the staff.”
