Barca draw up defensive list

Barcelona are reportedly sorting through a wishlist of potential defensive recruitments for the summer, which include Mats Hummels and Vincent Kompany.

Hummels, strongly linked with the club just yesterday, is regarded by Mundo Deportivo as Barca’s primary target this coming transfer window.

The Catalans are understood to have prioritised signing a centre-back, potentially a goalkeeper depending on Victor Valdes and a striker, most likely seen as Neymar.

Whilst Hummels is seen as Barca’s first choice this summer, interest from Bayern Munich and future Coach Pep Guardiola has La Blaugrana reportedly looking at alternatives. Sport, meanwhile, report that club sources have denied to them that the German international is their top priority.

Beyond Hummels and Manchester City’s Kompany, who has also reportedly been in consideration for months, Barca are seen as contemplating moves for Chelsea’s David Luiz, Tottenham Hotspur’s Jan Vertonghen, Arsenal’s Thomas Vermaelen or Liverpool’s Daniel Agger.

Beyond this Premier League-based list, the Catalans are also understood as keeping tabs on Real Sociedad’s Inigo Martinez, who has just signed a new contract through to 2017, Roma’s Marquinhos and Shakhtar Donetsk’s Yaroslav Rakitskiy.
