‘Atleti not just another game’

Jonas has admitted that Valencia face Atletico Madrid this weekend aware that it is ‘not just another game’ in their season.

Los Che, who are still chasing Champions League qualification, travel out to Atletico this Sunday evening just a place and two points behind Real Sociedad in fourth spot in La Liga.

“It is not just another game, it is an important one,” Jonas told reporters today.

“We cannot think that it is worth the same as any other because there are few games remaining to the end of the season now.

“It is a special match against a great opponent with great potential. If we win we can add more points to achieve our objective, and to score points at the Vicente Calderon is significant.

“It will be difficult there, but no team is unbeatable. They have shown a lot of quality over the season and are very strong.

“We know that we have to score and if we do that it is possible to win.”

Roberto Soldado remains a doubt for the game, as he is only due to return to full training on Friday, representing an almost two-week lay-off with a sprained ankle.

“He’s a great player and very important. With him on the field we have more chances of winning the game.

“It is very important to have him in this final phase of the season.”
