Barcelona are hoping to open discussions with David Villa regarding a new contract within the next few weeks, according to reports.
Catalan newspaper Sport believe that the Blaugrana are keen to keep hold of the striker, after he was linked with a move away from Camp Nou.
The 31-year-old's current deal expires in June 2014, with Arsenal likely to make a move for the forward this summer.
The same paper however, have also claimed that should those negotiations fall short in anyway, Tito Vilanova's men would look to bring Manchester City man Sergio Aguero in as Villa's replacement.
The Argentina international was yesterday linked with a transfer to Real Madrid and could cost as much as €40m.
