‘UEFA fixed European draws’

Former professional referee Ahmet Cakar has claimed that the draw for the Champions League and Europa League has been fixed this year.

According to Cakar, who now works as a sports broadcaster on Turkish television, the draw was fixed using a small vibration tool to tell the person conducting the draw which ball to select.

UEFA, Cakar alleges, intended to fix the quarter-final draws of both the Champions League and Europa League so that none of the ‘big clubs’ or teams from the same country would face each other, so as to guarantee high level semi-finals in both competitions.

Barcelona face Paris-Saint Germain in the Champions League last eight, whilst Real Madrid are up against Galatasaray and Malaga challenge Borussia Dortmund.
