Tiago Mendes has revealed that Atletico Madrid are in talks with him over renewing his contract this summer.
The Portuguese midfielder was widely expected to be on his way out of the club at the end of the season, upon the expiry of his current deal in June.
“We are talking,” Tiago told a Press conference today.
“The club have said that they want me to continue and we are talking and I think everything will be fine.”
The 31-year-old is currently recovering from a broken arm sustained in February.
“I feel very good. The week I started training and I am feeling good. There is no date set because there is a facture and I have two months to take care with it, but the feelings are good and I hope to play before then.
“The team? I see it as a united group, working together and in the same direction, trying to get as many points as we can.
“The game we lost to Real Sociedad was more for the merit of Real than for our mistakes.
“Now we have to win against Valencia [in Week 29], so as to be closer to our objective.”
