Mata: Spain must stay focused

Juan Mata has urged discussion over Jose Mourinho and Vicente del Bosque to stop, in favour of Spain focusing on the World Cup qualifiers.

Ahead of facing Finland and France, Press conferences this week have seen La Roja’s players and Coach asked about Mourinho’s assertion that the voting for the 2012 FIFA Ballon d’Or Coach of the Year award – given to Del Bosque over Mourinho – was flawed.

“We have to think about La Seleccion. Everyone knows that Vicente is a great Coach, Mourinho is too, but we need to not get into that,” commented Mata when also asked for his opinion.

“We are proud to return home, to return to play in Asturias, we are very happy to see our family, friends and Asturian football is excited to welcome the national team.

“For us, the most important game should be tomorrow’s, that against Finland. The two games are of equal importance. The six points are important.”
