Coaches to receive refs’ clarification

The Technical Committee of Referees’ President will meet with La Liga’s Coaches next week to discuss the high number of coaching dismissals this term.

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) confirmed this week that Victoriano Sanchez Arminio will hold a meeting with the Coaches from the Primera Division next Monday at 11am local time.

This was confirmed as the direction to take following on from RFEF President Eduardo Caturla’s meeting with Arminio, which was held this week in reaction to the high number of Coaches to have been dismissed for protesting during League games.

A number of Coaches have complained that their dismissals and subsequent two-game bans have been for what they see as natural reactions to in-game incidents, such as raised arms, questions to the fourth official or shouting.

Already by the ninth weekend of this season, seven Coaches had been dismissed from the dugout, equal to the number sent off during the entirety of last term.

Arminio will meet with the Coaches on Monday in an attempt to further clarify the criteria match officials are following when assessing touchline behaviour and dissent.
