Porto ‘strong and solid’

Porto’s Silvestre Varela is respectful of Malaga and the atmosphere expected at La Rosaleda tonight, but is optimistic for his team’s chances.

The Portuguese head into Wednesday evening’s Champions League Last 16 second leg with a 1-0 advantage.

“We are confident and we will do everything to try to get through the tie,” Varela told his pre-match Press conference.

“The atmosphere in the team is very good, we feel solid and strong. Although we have an advantage, these are two different games.

“Malaga will give their best and will be on the attack. They are a great team, we have had some very good games and we are keen to win. We believe we can play a good game.

“La Rosaleda? The players have to think about playing well, but it is a challenging game for the atmosphere we will experience, for the pressure…

“We will try to play a balanced game, implement what the Coach has told us and do what we have to in every moment to try and get the best result.”
