Atletico Madrid are linked this week with a move for former goalkeeper Christian Abbiati, as a replacement for Thibaut Courtois.
The club are described by AS as looking at alternatives in the transfer market to Courtois, who is seen as likely to return to Chelsea in the summer, after two impressive years on loan with Los Colchoneros.
Osasuna’s Andres Fernandez is reportedly one option Diego Simeone’s men are considering, but with the view that he may be too expensive, with other parties said to also be interested in his services.
Subsequently, the club are paired with bringing back Italian shot-stopper Abbiati to the Vicente Calderon on a Bosman this summer.
The 35-year-old, who is the current Milan No 1 but out of contract in June, spent the 2007-08 season on loan at the Spanish capital club.
