Juan Carlos Valeron has promised that Deportivo will not ‘waste’ their trip to Barcelona and that they will be aiming to produce a surprise.
The struggling Galicians head out to the Camp Nou this Saturday evening for their Week 27 fixture against the current League leaders.
For Valeron, it is a game that his team cannot go into assuming that they will lose.
“The important points are to come later, but for our spirit and confidence, to get a positive result in Barcelona would be awesome and we will not waste the chance of a surprise,” the veteran creative midfielder reflected in his Press conference today.
“We will not waste anything. Though we know how hard it is, we have to go into the game against Barcelona with intent. They have a very important game next week and there may be a chance for us to get something.
“They have had some results that were not expected and you never know if that is for better or worse when facing Barcelona. They will want to change that dynamic and that makes them more dangerous. We cannot think about that, but of ourselves, playing a good game.”
Depor go into the game bottom of the League and eight points adrift of safety.
“The feeling I have is the dressing room are adapting to the situation – the days are going by, we are unable to win and cut the points deficit and our opportunities to do so are depleted.
“We know that we are not winning every game and that it is complicating matters, but from here, we continue with the enthusiasm and the desire to keep fighting.”
