Miroslav Djukic made no apologies for Real Valladolid’s approach to their 0-0 draw at Espanyol, valuing the point won highly.
A defensive approach from Djukic’s side saw little goalmouth action produced from either team on Sunday at Cornella-El Prat.
“I’m happy because the team did a great job against a team that pressurises, that pushes for long spells and who has experienced and high quality players,” reflected the Valladolid Coach at full-time.
“This draw strengthens us. My players have been able to read the attacks well. We tried counter-attacking ourselves because we knew this game would require a lot of tactical discipline and we did not want to lose the ball at any moment.
“We did not have many chances to score, but we knew it would be difficult as a game. It was a game to be decided by a set-piece or a moment of genius and this did not appear.
“We have 34 points, each day we improve more and I am encouraged.”
