Cerezo: Final will be in Madrid

Atletico Madrid President Enrique Cerezo says that the Copa del Rey Final with Real Madrid will be played in the Spanish capital, because it is logical.

The two clubs are in talks with the Spanish Football Federation this week to determine the date and venue for the 2013 final.

Madrid are thought to be pushing for maximum attendance at the Camp Nou, whilst Atleti are seen as asking for minimal travel fuss for supporters, and so would like the Santiago Bernabeu or Vicente Calderon to play host.

For Atleti chief Cerezo, playing the game in Madrid is his ‘guarantee’ and is the most logical solution.

“I can guarantee that the final will be played in Madrid,” he told reporters today.

“Logically it is our turn at the Calderon. What is normal and what everyone wants is that a final being played between two clubs from Madrid will be played in Madrid.”
