Xavi rested until Milan?

Reports in Spain today have it that Barcelona will not play Xavi Hernandez until the Champions League clash with Milan.

The midfielder missed two weeks of action during February with a hamstring injury, before featuring in the first leg European tie against the Italians, the League fixture with Sevilla and then last Tuesday’s Copa del Rey defeat at home to Real Madrid.

However, following on from missing regular training in midweek and reports that he will not be risked in tomorrow’s League Clasico, it is believed that Barca will in fact keep the 33-year-old in the stands until the return leg in Europe against Milan.

It means that Xavi will unlikely play the following weekend’s home League match against Deportivo.

The intention from the club’s medical and technical staff is to ensure that the midfielder is fully recovered from that hamstring injury suffered last month.
