Madrid, Atleti split over Cup venue

Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are reportedly not yet in agreement over where the Copa del Rey Final should be played.

Along with the date for the game yet to be determined, although believed likely to be on Sunday May 19, the host stadium still needs to be decided.

It is believed that Madrid are pushing for Barcelona’s Camp Nou, which stands as a neutral venue and they believe can maximise the attendance for the game.

Meanwhile, Atletico are seen as favouring either the Santiago Bernabeu or Vicente Calderon, to avoid making fans travel.

Police authorities reportedly also side with Atleti’s viewpoint and are seen as keen to keep the sets of fans for the game in the one same city that they both come from.

The clubs are set to meet next week with the Spanish Football Federation to determine the location for the final.
