Lionel Messi was the notable absentee from Barcelona’s training session on Wednesday evening, as he was unwell.
The Argentine, who played in last night’s Copa del Rey semi-final second leg defeat to Real Madrid, missed training today and was visited at home by first team doctors.
Prescrbing him medicine and rest, Messi was confirmed by the club as suffering from a fever and being generally unwell.
The 25-year-old has been given Thursday off and is hoped as being well enough to return to the Ciutat Esportiva for Friday’s workout, ahead of Saturday’s League Clasico with Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Meanwhile, Alex Song continued to work by himself, whilst Xavi Hernandez underwent physiotherapy.
