Ronaldo: Matter of confidence

Cristiano Ronaldo has reflected on the motivation and confidence that Real Madrid had playing at the Camp Nou on Tuesday.

Los Blancos won 3-1 on the night against hosts Barcelona to book a place in the Copa del Rey Final with a 4-2 aggregate win.

“It was a very good match for us, we played very well. From the first to the last minute, we were very concentrated, with a great attitude,” reflected double goalscorer Ronaldo to reporters afterwards.

“To score three goals here is very tough. I give the congratulations to the team because we had an amazing match.

“Lately, whenever we have played here we have done it very well. We play better here than at home. It's a matter of confidence, most players like to play in the Camp Nou and things are going well for us.

“Playing against Barcelona always gives you extra motivation. We have a home match [at the weekend] and we have to keep going as we are.

“The League is less important because Barcelona have a big advantage, we need to look more at the Cup and in the Champions League, but certainly we will go out to do our best.

“Did I expect this result? The truth is no, but the team was very good. And now we have to go to Manchester, but this gives us confidence.”

Ronaldo is the first player to have scored in six consecutive away Clasicos.

“I feel very comfortable playing on this ground. Besides, I always have the help of my teammates, which is what allows me to score goals.

“Going into the history books for scoring so many times in a row is something nice and I am proud to be writing a page in the history of Spanish football.”
