Puyol: Neither side created

Carles Puyol was left frustrated at Milan’s victory over his Barcelona, for the belief that “neither side really created that many chances.”

Even so, strikes from Kevin Prince Boateng and Sulley Muntari have heavily weighted the Last 16 clash in the Champions League in favour of the Italians.

“The worst thing about it all is the result, neither side really created that many chances,” commented the captain, who suffered a head injury in the second half.

“We struggled a bit today and tactically they were good, we had to work hard to play easy. We cannot do anything now and we have to try and turn around the result.

“It has been a blow, that is clear, but we’re used to playing big games. The return will be a final. We have to get up for it.

“We knew it would be a difficult game. Whatever is said on the outside [about favourites], it cannot be controlled, but we knew that this was going to be difficult, they are in good form and played their football.

“It’s time to mount a comeback in front of our fans. They were more aggressive, we have to improve in the return leg.

“We have to have confidence in this team, we can’t give up. We’re going to play at home in front of our fans, we aren’t going to give up.”
