Marcel Desailly has remarked that watching Milan beat Barcelona yesterday brought back memories of the 1994 Champions League Final.
In that game, in which Desailly scored, the Rossoneri ran out resounding 4-0 winners over Johan Cruyff’s Dream Team.
“I have to thank boss Massimiliano Allegri for doing an incredible job, for having that kind of discipline,” the retired Frenchman enthused to Milan Channel post-match.
“The players showed the Milan character tonight. It reminded me of the 4-0 against Barcelona in 1994.
“Tactically and in terms of discipline, the team was perfect with the defence playing high. They pressed players off the ball and they were attentive.”
Desailly picked out captain Massimo Ambrosini for particular praise.
“He was 17-years-old when he started at Milan and he played a captain’s game tonight.”
