Alves picks out Wilshere

Dani Alves has reflected that Barcelona would be wise to try and sign Arsenal midfeidler Jack Wilshere in  the future.

The Brazilian full-back faced the 21-year-old on international duty last week, during England’s 2-1 win over Brazil at Wembley.

Talking to the English media this week, the Barca player reflected on his potential to reach the top.

“He is a great player who we have met playing against Arsenal and without doubt he can reach the height of the players we have here at Barcelona like Xavi and Iniesta,” Alves told The Daily Telegraph.

“He has a lot of quality and a great personality. If I was given the chance to choose, he is a player that I would sign for Barcelona.”

Alves was speaking ahead of Barcelona’s first leg Last 16 Champions League clash away to Milan.

“They will be difficult opponents because of the tradition that they have in the competition. You have to show them respect.

“Milan is not experiencing its greatest period but these will be special games.

“We can’t think about what Milan is going through, we just have to play our football and work hard because we know they are going to be tough games.”

The defender also had a soundbite on Lionel Messi, who is on a scoring record of 14 consecutive League games at the moment and at the weekend netted his 300th and 301st goals for Barcelona.

“Right now he is spectacular. In the past there have always been players like Pele and Maradona who mark their era.

“Messi is this player. His new contract is great news for Barcelona and for him personally, because this is his home and where he has been trained. We will have him for a long time which is great.”
