Xavi but no Villa for Milan

Barcelona have named a 20-man squad to travel out to Milan this Wednesday, including Xavi Hernandez but not David Villa.

Both the midfielder and striker missed the weekend trip to Granada through fitness, with Xavi recovering from a hamstring injury suffered two weeks ago and Villa ruled out after missing most of the week’s training with kidney stones.

Whilst both returned to training today, only Xavi has been called up for the Catalans’ midweek trip to Milan for the first leg Last 16 Champions League clash.

Whilst Xavi received medical clearance to be included, Barcelona have confirmed in naming their squad that Villa and stand-in Coach Jordi Roura agreed that he had not yet fully recovered from last week’s struggles.

Adriano is still suffering with a tight hamstring picked up at the weekend and is also not included for the trip to Italy.

Barcelona squad to face Milan: Valdes, Pinto, Oier, Alves, Pique, Fabregas, Puyol, Xavi, Iniesta, Alexis, Messi, Thiago, Mascherano, Bartra, Sergio, Pedro, Jordi Alba, Montoya, Song, Tello
