‘Mallorca must forget their situation’

Gregorio Manzano has advised his Mallorca players to forget their current League position, so as to play at Valencia without fear.

The island outfit currently sit 19th in La Liga and four points away from safety after a disastrous run of form under Manzano’s predecessor Joaquin Caparros.

After picking up a draw in his first game in charge last weekend at home to Osasuna, Manzano takes Mallorca to Valencia this Sunday afternoon.

“We must be practical and effective tomorrow, we have to play without inferiority complexes,” commented the returned Coach.

“We have to forget the current situation, so as to remove the anguish and anxiety that it generates.

“If we can remove that mental block and play with our head, trying to do good with the ball, we will have our chances in Valencia.

“We go out there to win, but if we cannot, we must draw, because losing is not a preference at this stage of the season.

“Valencia have a squad of significant size, but they are prone to the occasional shock, like the defeat to Real Madrid [0-5].

“But, Valencia in that game is not the typical Valencia, who are compact and play good football.

“It is not the same thing to face Osasuna in Palma as it is to face Valencia at Mestalla, so it is likely that the team will have a few changes made to it.”
