Atleti eye permanent Courtois deal

Atletico Madrid are said to be monitoring Thibaut Courtois’ potential reluctance to return to Chelsea, prepared to make a permanent bid this summer.

The capital club are set to lose the Belgian international back to parent club Chelsea in the summer, after two years on loan at the Calderon.

However, according to the Daily Mail, the 20-year-old has intimated recently to club officials in London that he is reluctant to return to Stamford Bridge to play understudy to Petr Cech.

The Blues have reportedly tried to assure the player that eventually the intention is to use him as No 1 at the club, but Courtois reportedly has hopes of first-team action from 2013-14 and has coupled them with the intention of improving his contract with the club signed in July 2011 on more ‘modest terms’.

Atletico are said to be keen to keep hold of the player and are reportedly monitoring the situation and are considering making a permanent bid in the summer to keep hold of the youngster.
