Xavi out for 15 days

Xavi Hernandez has been ruled out of action for the next two weeks, after suffering a hamstring injury for Barcelona at Valencia.

The midfielder was withdrawn in the closing stages of the Catalans’ 1-1 draw at Mestalla on Sunday evening, before reports emerged that he had suffered discomfort in his right hamstring.

Withdrawn from the Spain squad to face Uruguay this midweek in Doha, Qatar, the 33-year-old has since had tests on the injury.

Barca have confirmed on Monday that those tests revealed sufficient damage to rule Xavi out for the next two weeks.

The veteran will subsequently miss his team’s next two games against Getafe and Granada in the League, but could be back in time to face Milan in the first leg of their Champions League Last 16 clash on February 20.
