Alcaraz in at Granada

Lucas Alcaraz has returned to the Granada bench after a 15-year stint away, replacing Juan Antonio Anquela as Coach.

Anquela was relieved of his duties on Wednesday morning with the team just the one League position and two points above the relegation zone.

Alcaraz was quickly linked with the club as the immediate replacement and has now been confirmed by Granada as in for the remainder of the season.

Native to the region of Andalucia, Alcaraz made his debut as a Coach with Granada at the age of just 29, spending three seasons there between 1995 and 1998.

Best achieving two top four finishes in the Third Division during that time, Alcaraz returns to El Grana almost 15 years later with considerably more managerial experience, having had 10 different positions since, including two spells at Almeria and Recreativo.

Alcaraz, who local Press believe will be tasked predominantly with reuniting a split dressing room, was last in work with Greek side Aris Salonika, but is believed to have left them yesterday.

Granada’s official Twitter feed confirmed Alcaraz’ arrival until the end of the season.
