Carlos: Good atmosphere at Madrid

Roberto Carlos watched Real Madrid train today and ahead of the Clasico meeting with Barcelona has enthused of the team spirit he saw.

The Brazilian spent 11 years at the Santiago Bernabeu and was back at the club today to watch their preparations for Wednesday’s first leg Cup semi-final with Barcelona.

“The Clasico is the best game of the season. Whether in the League, Cup or Europe, they are very important games. I’ve played in many, have had many good moments and I have also suffered,” he recalled to reporters today.

“Real Madrid live in a good moment. They have to concentrate, live and enjoy the game.

“How are the team? I see a group with a good atmosphere, despite the critics that are out there. I see people that are focused and confident.

“Much remains in front of this team and they are on the right track.

“And Mourinho? He has extensive experience in all competitions. Everyone says the same thing, that he is the best Coach in the world.

“He will prepare the team very well. We know the opponent is very strong, but a full Bernabeu has a spectacular setting and I see this being a great game.”

The full-back was asked to reflect on his memories of playing in the Clasico.

“There are two moments I always remember from my career. I was playing a match in with Brazil against China, in which I scored the first goal, and I scored after a mistake from Arnau in a Clasico at the Bernabeu. Those were the goals of my career.”

Carlos is reportedly in Madrid in his role as Anzhi sporting director to negotiate a possible deal for Ricky Kaka.
