Ronaldo eyeing Barca clash

Cristiano Ronaldo is aware of Real Madrid’s absences going into their Copa del Rey clash with Barcelona, but he remains optimistic.

Los Blancos are without a number of first team stars through injury and suspension for the first leg of their Cup semi-final with Barca this Wednesday evening.

“It’s a really important game, a complicated game. We’re going to play against one of the most difficult sides in the world, so it will be a great night,” commented the Portuguese to reporters.

“We’re playing at home, which is a great opportunity to have a success match. We’ll be missing a number of players, key players, who are very important for this squad, but that’s not an excuse, we have to play well because Barca is an amazing team.

“I hope that it’s a great night for us and we’re ready for the big match.”

Ronaldo was talking to reporters on Sunday evening after his hat-trick earlier in the day at home to Getafe. Those goals saw him reach 100 for Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.

“It is good to reach this mark. I’m happy about it, but my job is to keep doing what I’ve been doing and do my best for this club.

“I want to beat my own record, be better than last year and I constantly try to give my all.”
