Messi ‘not concerned’ with records

Lionel Messi has admitted that he is not concerned about whether or not he breaks more goalscoring records.

The Barcelona forward scored 91 goals in 2012 – the most in a calendar year by any player ever.

But the 25-year-old has conceded that he is not concerned with individual honours.

“It is not my objective to break records,” he told Argentine newspaper Clarin. “I just want to win everything possible with my club team and national team.

“We live to try and improve in every area of life – and I am no exception.”

The Blaugrana man also remarked on the similarities between former Coach Pep Guardiola and current boss Tito Vilanova, as well as his dreams for the next few seasons.

“There is very little difference between Pep and Tito. They both enjoy possession football and a great personality.

“I want this year to be better than last year,” he added. “And then it's the World Cup – I can't wait for that.”
