Valdez: We’re better than Depor

Nelson Valdez is in no doubt that Valencia can and must beat Deportivo in this weekend’s League match at Riazor.

Los Che were held to a 3-3 draw in the reverse fixture earlier this season, but Paraguayan forward Valdez believes that three points must be taken home from Riazor on Saturday night.

“With all due respect for Deportivo La Coruna, I believe that my team is better than them, but we must prove this,” declared the 29-year-old on loan from Rubin Kazan this term.

“We are the favourites on Saturday, but we must show why. We cannot make excuses for the cold or the heat or the Coach or anything else.

“I am prepared to play every game and play when I play,” continued Valdez, who deputised last night for the injured Roberto Soldado.

“After yesterday’s game, we can look at ourselves in the mirror once more, because we approached that like a final and I think the fans understood this and thanked us.

“In football you can be criticised for the technical quality and the lack of goals, but never the attitude delivered.”
