Valeron considering Depor future

Juan Carlos Valeron is reportedly considering his future at Deportivo, in light of apparently been left unhappy by recent events.

The 37-year-old veteran has been at Riazor since 2000 and has become an influential figure at the club both on and off the pitch.

He was believed to have played a part in Jose Luis Oltra’s appointment at Depor in 2011 and has been considered a point of consultation in recent years for President Augusto Cesar Lendoiro.

However, Lendoiro’s decision to sack Oltra at the end of the winter break and replace him with Portuguese Coach Domingos Paciencia has reportedly come at the expense of the President’s relationship with Valeron.

The creative midfielder is understood to have had a strong professional and personal association with Oltra and his assistant Chema Sanz is said to be not pleased with their removal or the manner in which it was conducted.

So much so, reports in Spain today suggest that he is assessing his future at the club, including after retirement. It had been suggested that Valeron would move into a technical capacity at the club, when he eventually hangs up his boots, overseeing the club’s youth policy.

However, how the cantera is currently set up is reportedly another source of contention between Valeron and Lendoiro.

At the moment it is believed that these two scenarios are enough for Valeron to be considering completely walking away from the club at the end of the season.
