Jimenez outraged by fixture congestion

Real Zaragoza Coach Manolo Jimenez has called his side's fixture pile-up 'outrageous' ahead of their Copa del Rey quarter-final.

The Blanquillos host Sevilla tomorrow having played Atletico Madrid two days' ago, and then have to play Real Valladolid this Sunday.

And the 48-year-old has admitted he is sorry for the fans as he cannot guarantee starting his strongest XI for the cup clash.

“It seems that all the competitions are organized so that the teams who earn the most get the furthest,” he told a Press conference.

“It is outrageous. I am really upset.

“We owe it to our fans to respect this competition – it is one that means a lot to this club.

“But we cannot risk players who are not in position to play at their maximum.

“I will try to play the best team possible, but I will not put my boys in danger.”
