Ramos promises Madrid effort

Sergio Ramos believes that Real Madrid will continue to fight for the title this season, whilst denying that anxiety is behind their on-the-pitch issues.

Los Blancos have fallen 16 points behind League leaders Barcelona, but the defender has made clear in today’s Press conference that it has not deterred his side’s attitude.

“I think if you ask any fan, whether old or new, they will tell you that Real Madrid are obliged to fight for every title,” Ramos told reporters today.

“Admittedly, to win League will be difficult, but it is not impossible. We have to keep fighting, believing and winning and when better to do that than on Sunday against Real Sociedad.

“Evidently, the Champions League is also a competition which stirs special emotions and we are aiming to go all the way, it would be great for the fans.”

Madrid begin the year with consecutive home matches against Real Sociedad in the League and Celta Vigo in the second leg of the Last 16 of the Copa del Rey.

“There is no better way to start the year than by winning games and picking up points and getting back to the level that we had last year. That is what we want at the moment.

“Not much has changed from last year, perhaps the situation that we are going through at the moment has, but the team remains the same. We are on the right track and the attitude is good, you cannot complain at all.

“I do not think that any anxiety in the team is an issue. I think there are bad streaks in football and maybe things have not gone as we wanted. Especially not in front of goal have we had the effectiveness that we did last season, but the break has been good for us to reflect.

“I am the first to say if maybe we can give more. But we are on the right track, the attitude has always been good.”
