Pique fakes son’s birth

Today is Spain’s equivalent of April Fool’s day, and the nations football clubs have certainly been having their fun.

December 28 is known as Holy Innocents Day, a day for pranks in Spanish culture.

The most high profile figure getting in on the act is Barcelona defender Gerard Pique, who faked the birth of his child! Pique, whose partner Shakira is pregnant, posted a tweet in the early hours of the morning.

“Our son has been born!” it read. “We are very happy! Thank you to everyone for your messages!”

A couple of hours later the former Manchester United man revisited the social network.

“We have a name…his name is Innocent! Happy Innocents Day to all!”

Meanwhile embattled Andalusians Granada showed they haven’t lost their sense of humour, posting a doctored image of Atletico Madrid’s Radamel Falcao being unveiled as their new signing.

“What I like is to remain Rojiblanco,” read the accompanying caption.

Lower League minnows Mirandes and Llagostera claimed they had signed Guti and Raul Tamudo respectively.
