Kluivert: Barca too good for Milan

Barcelona have little to fear from Champions League opponents Milan, according to former Blaugrana striker Patrick Kluivert.

Barca have been drawn against the Rossoneri in the Champions League Last 16, after facing them four times during the course of last year’s competition.

Kluivert, who played for both clubs, gave his thoughts on the tie in an interview with Mundo Deportivo.

“Barca are on another level,” opined the 36-year-old, currently working as assistant Coach to Louis van Gaal with the Netherlands. “They are the absolute favourite for the Champions League and bad things would have to happen for Milan not to be eliminated.

“Milan are certainly a good team and will forever be competitive. The Italian League is difficult. But Barca have too much for them and I would say that about any team.

“Milan have lost two very important pieces, [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva. Barca instead have maintained the same structure as the winning team with Pep Guardiola. Nothing seems to have changed with Tito Vilanova.

“In fact, the way they play has the same basis as the first year of [Frank] Rijkaard, which was also my last year at the club.”

Kluivert turned out for Barca between 1998 and 2004, scoring 90 goals for the Catalan outfit.
