Arda wants ‘top five or six’ club

Atletico Madrid midfielder Arda Turan has admitted he longs to play for ‘one of the five or six biggest clubs in Europe.’

Turan has become a reference point for Atleti, particularly in the wake of Diego’s departure, contributing four goals and three assists so far this season. However on his return to homeland Turkey for the holidays the 25-year-old has suggested his future lies away from the Vicente Calderon.

“My goal is to play for one of the five or six biggest clubs in Europe,” he informed CNN Turkey. “My dream is to win the Champions League.”

His comments follow those made by agent Ahmet Bulut, who recently said the player could leave at the end of the season. Nonetheless Arda ended the interview on a positive note.

“I’m very happy and comfortable in Madrid. People respect my privacy.”

The former Galatasaray man is a celebrity in his homeland. He became engaged to his girlfriend Sinem Kobal on Christmas Eve, with Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan expected to attend the wedding ceremony.
