Benitez ‘knows’ of future plans

Rafa Benitez has hinted at already knowing of his destination for next season, commenting on his future that he ‘knows things’.

The former Valencia boss is currently in the interim position at Chelsea until the end of the season, but is speculated as on his way out of they can bring in Pep Guardiola next summer.

Similarly, Benitez has also been linked with finding future work himself, with Real Madrid a suggested option that might be open.

“When I accepted Chelsea’s proposal, it was because I felt it was a good option. I study the market to see what options there are and when they occur,” the tactician told Onda Cero this week, in explaining why he accepted the short-term contract.

“When you wait for a good team, you have to anticipate that your chance comes because of a bad moment for them.

“My future? I know things, but I will not say anything about Real Madrid, because I do not think that I should.”

The Coach has not been well received by the Stamford Bridge crowd, for his past with Liverpool which included criticisms of the London side.

“I have a challenge at Chelsea to win things and do well, it is a matter of time to convince the majority. If we win then it will be easier to convince them. I’m very calm.

“Sometimes I do not understand the chants against me. I’m focused on the game and do not know what happens in the stands, but I have never said that I would never train a team like Chelsea.”

Benitez is back in England with Chelsea after losing the Club World Cup Final to Corinthians last weekend.

“It was the third final being disputed and I wanted to give it a lot of emphasis. It makes me laugh when specialists from Spain collect videos and talk about the games in England and only know half of it.

“Corinthians had 15 days training there just for that game.”
