Malaga have drawn Porto in the Last 16 of the Champions League, declared by their director as ‘the strongest team’ they could have faced.
The first draw for the knockout stages of the competition involving the Costa del Sol outfit has paired them with the Portuguese champions, who Francisco Martin Aguilar is full of respect for.
“As we were moving through the draw the preferred opponents were being discarded. We are going to face the best team in the Champions League,” reflected club director Aguilar to reporters after the draw.
“They are a great team, they are doing very well, we will find it very difficult to eliminate them, but we will try.
“They were not the team that we had in mind or had wanted. They are the strongest team that we could have played, they are a great team and we have to deal with them with the same enthusiasm and desire that we have had so far in the Champions League.”
