Miroslav Djukic has promised that Real Valladolid will at least attempt to play their same style of football in hosting Real Madrid in Week 15.

Valladolid welcome Jose Mourinho’s side to the Jose Zorilla this Saturday evening in good form, currently seventh in the League and playing eye-pleasing football.

“The truth is that I am happy with the progress of the team, they are doing well. It is the reward for having perseverance and from the work of last year,” Djukic told reporters in anticipation of the weekend’s test.

“The philosophy and the mindset remains the same. Yes, even against Madrid and Barca we will try to play the same, try to respect this philosophy, but we also know that against these opponents it will be hard because they gradually dominate you.

“We know that these games will not be played with us in possession. We have to defend well, as we have done, and be organised.

“We will try to attack, carry the weight of the game, be aggressive, but I am aware of the quality that we are facing.”

Even so, Madrid have struggled against teams that have surrendered possession and sat back.

“Yes, but I think that Madrid can beat you in many ways – taking the ball or not having it and playing on a rapid counter-attack.

“They can also give you the feeling that you are playing the game of your life and then you look at the scoreboard to see you are losing 0-2.

“Real Madrid have so many things, so many good players, that at any time they can win, so I think we have to play that match of our lives and be very focused in order to win.

“We will try to play our game, but we know that if Madrid win the ball back, we must sacrifice everything, defend and be organised tactically, as we have been so far this season.”
