Lafita: Getafe can win anywhere

Getafe want to beat Real Sociedad in order to remain in the European places, according to midfielder Angel Lafita.

The side from the Madrid suburbs are 6th, level on points with 5th placed Malaga, who they defeated 1-0 last weekend.

Their opponent tomorrow is one who pulled off a similarly impressive score line last time out though, Real Sociedad, who trounced Valencia 5-2.

“We’re coming with the ambition to win, so that we don’t leave the European places,” the 28-year-old midfielder told reporters.

“I don’t think you can have more ambition. It will be a difficult game, they scored five goals at Mestalla, which almost no one has done. They have very quick players, a lot of quality, so we have to be attentive. But we envy no one. We have the team to win there and at any stadium.”

Lafita then reflected on his adaptation to life with his new club after leaving Real Zaragoza last summer.

“I’ve been playing football for years and it’s the same everywhere. I’m very happy with my adaptation and my contribution to the team, but the most important thing is to win.”

Getafe’s strikers have scored just one goal between them this season but Lafita is unconcerned by that particular statistic.

“I’m not one to give advice. They’re doing an outstanding job. It’s difficult to be a forward, but others are contributing goals.”
