Djukic: Score-line was excessive

Miroslav Djukic believes that Real Valladolid were unduly punished for ‘specific moments’ in their Cup defeat to Real Betis.

Valladolid were leading 1-0 from the first leg of this Round of 32 clash, but were eliminated on Tuesday night after a second leg 3-0 defeat at the Benito Villamarin.

“I think we had a result that was an excessive punishment,” declared Valladolid Coach Djukic in reaction.

“I’m not saying that we deserved to progress or that we didn’t, but perhaps we deserved a better result, but in football it is the goals that count and we did not score more.

“There were many injuries to my team. It shows when you do not have a big squad. But, I cannot blame the team, because they have given everything, they are spent. Betis have just been better.

“The score is a result of specific moments, as our defence otherwise had no trouble controlling them.”
