Marcelino Garcia Toral has reportedly been put in charge of first team affairs at Espanyol and will hold training today.
The 47-year-old tactician is being widely reported as the replacement for Mauricio Pochettino, who barring an official statement from Espanyol, has been sacked this morning.
Marcelino arrives at Cornella-El Prat with Los Pericos bottom of the pile in La Liga after 13 rounds of action, two points from safety.
Much travelled, Marcelino has had spells coaching with Sporting Gijon, Recreativo, Racing Santandaer, Real Zaragoza and most recently last season with Sevilla.
If confirmed in the role, then Marcelino’s first game in charge will be against Sevilla this midweek in the Copa del Rey.
