Rumours are circulating that Manchester City have made an offer for Real Madrid playmaker Mesut Ozil.
The source is German publication Bild, who have suggested this is the real reason Ozil was benched in favour of Luka Modric when Madrid drew 1-1 with City in the Champions League on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old – whose current deal expires in 2016 – joined Los Blancos from Werder Bremen in 2010. He has contributed two goals and five assists in all competitions this season.
