City pay €3m for Madrid kid

Manchester City will reportedly pay Real Madrid €3m to take over the rights for 16-year-old talent Jose Angel Pozo.

The striker caught the English side’s attention during his early teens when he netted 34 goals at youth level for Los Blancos.

City reportedly began negotiations months before the player’s 16th birthday in March 2012, offering a ‘goodwill gesture’ payment in late 2011 of €123,000 to take over his registration.

However, talks between the clubs, who played each other just yesterday in the Champions League, are said to have pushed that price up to €3m. Sportsvibe report that the transfer is agreed and is now to be completed.

Pozo, who captained Real Madrid at Under-15 level, had already linked up with the English side and recently represented City during this month’s NextGen Series.
