Benitez unveiled as Chelsea boss

Rafael Benitez has been officially unveiled as the new Chelsea boss, and believes he can bring more trophy success to the club.

The former Valencia man was appointed yesterday after Roberto Di Matteo was sacked following the 3-0 loss to Juventus on Tuesday.

But the Spanish tactician is of the opinion that he can lead the Blues' to success, and also revealed that he turned down a number of offers to join the west London club.

“I want to do well for the fans,” he told a Press conference. “In the seven months [until the end of the season] I believe I can win trophies with the club.

“I understand that there will be doubts from the supporters, but I cannot control what they do.

“I personally have been waiting for this opportunity for two years. I could have gone and trained other teams on a long contract, but I did not do that.”

He also commented on the rumours that Pep Guardiola is in line to replace Benitez when his contract runs out in May.

“I think Pep is a great Coach,” he said. “But I can't tell you what will happen in the future. I think in the remaining seven months we can fight for the title.”
