Real Sociedad produced their most convincing performance of the season in a 4-0 demolition of Rayo Vallecano at Anoeta.

Carlos Vela put La Real firmly in control with two goals in two minutes just after the half hour. The Mexican latched onto a long ball and slid it under David Cobeno, then whipped a low left foot shot into the bottom corner in the culmination of an impressive passing move.

The hosts were rampant and almost made it three when Cobeno touched a spectacular Ruben Pardo volley over the bar. The 'keeper was having to make save after save and was furious with his teammates for leaving him so exposed.

Rayo made a spirited start to the second half but were caught on the counter attack with half an hour to play. Vela's cross was nodded back across the box and Mikel Gonzalez slid in to make it 3-0.

Paco Jemez's visitors appeared to have pulled one back when Andrija Delibasic tapped in a cross from substitute Lass, but it was deemed offside.

Philippe Montanier's side responded with a fourth, the impressive youngster Pardo playing in Chory Castro, who buried a finish in the top left corner.

It was an amazing turnaround in front of goal for La Real, who had only scored 12 goals in 11 games before this match.
