Espanyol, Valencia want Chelsea man

Both Espanyol and Valencia are attempting to take Chelsea midfielder Oriol Romeu back to Spain.

A report in the Daily Mail claims the Spanish duo are eyeing the 21-year-old’s situation at Stamford Bridge as he has struggled to hold down a regular place in boss Roberto di Matteo’s starting line-up this term.

Oriol left Barcelona to join the Londoners for €5m in August, 2011, with the Catalans retaining a buy-back option on the player that would see them pay €10m in 2012 or €15m in 2013 to take him back to the Camp Nou.

The player’s agent Magico Diaz is believed to have held talks with Valencia at the weekend but Mauricio Pochettino’s Espanyol are also interested, along with Dutch outfit PSV Eindhoven.
