Pablo knew Depor were in trouble

Deportivo La Coruna captain Manuel Pablo has revealed that the players were warned the club would run into financial problems.

The one time champions of Spain have had their finances placed under embargo by the tax authorities and could struggle to pay wages in the coming months as a result.

But Pablo has reiterated the sentiments of Coach Jose Luis Oltra, who said yesterday that the news did not come as a surprise.

“We had meetings and were warned that this could happen, but we did not know when,” the veteran defender told a Press conference.

“We also talked with the AFE (Association of Spanish footballers) and everything was very clear between the players.

“There are some months in which we know the issue of salaries will be complicated, but we trust in the President and the AFE.

“Training and games will take our minds off the situation and when we compete it will not affect us.”

Depor pay a visit to Real Zaragoza tomorrow.
