‘Malaga playing to beat Milan’

Eliseu has promised that Malaga intend to pick up another three points in the Champions League this week away at Milan.

The Costa del Sol side have won all three opening games to their debut group stage in the Champions League and only need a point to guarantee a spot in the next round of the competition.

“We need a point to qualify, but we always go out to win and that’s what we intend to do [on Tuesday] also. We are playing to try and win all three points,” promised Eliseu at a pre-match Press conference.

“We have no pressure. However, I want to win and it is a very important game for us and for the future of the club. We will try to win, but the pressure is on Milan. They are behind us, playing at home and will certainly go out and try to win as a great club and the great team that they are.”

The winger, who had a brief but unsuccessful spell in Serie A with Lazio in 2009-10, is looking forward to playing at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

“It is one of the most beautiful stages in the which we could play in the first phase. It is a very important field. Playing at San Siro is special, but we cannot look at the environment.

“It is a very nice stadium, but we want to win.”

Malaga go into the midweek test having lost their last League game, surprisingly at home to Rayo Vallecano.

“The defeat to Rayo has passed. We were superior, played a great game and now we cannot think about that.

“We think towards a very important game that this is at Milan.”

The team are also unsettled by continued speculation about whether or not they will receive money owed from their club’s owner.

“We’ve talked to the owners, they give us peace of mind and we focus on the sporting aspect. They have no affect at all, the late payments. The owners have given us their word and we have to focus on the sport.”
