Barcelona defender Gerard Pique is expected to make his return from injury in this week’s Champions League clash with Celtic.

The Spanish international picked up a foot injury in a game with Spartak Moscow on September 19 and was widely expected to have returned for El Clasico against Real Madrid on October 7.

However, the problem proved more serious than at first feared and Pique was then pencilled in for the La Liga game with Deportivo two weeks later, but was once again forced to pull out.

The 25-year-old has now missed the following four games, but an injury to Adriano in Saturday’s 3-1 defeat of Celta Vigo means Barca boss Tito Vilanova may have to include him in his initial starting XI in Glasgow.
